Note:
The pump is removed if it is necessary to repair or replace it, if antifreeze leaks from the pump shaft seal, if the noise during operation is higher than usual.
The water pump is mounted at the front of the engine under the generator. Before changing the pump to the Nissan X-Trail, you will first need to drain the coolant, remove the drive belt and alternator.
Coolant drain Nissan X-Trail
1. Install the car on a flyover or other elevation.
2. Raise the hood cover and fix it with an emphasis.
3. To relieve pressure in the cooling system, slowly turn the radiator cap counterclockwise.
4. Remove the cover.
5. Turn off and remove a cover of a broad tank.
6. Get under the car. Use a flat screwdriver to pull out the caps and remove the protection.
7. Place a container under the drain valve of the cooling system radiator.
8. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the drain bolt on the radiator.
9. Wait until the antifreeze is completely drained.
10. Replace the rubber gasket on the drain bolt and screw the bolt back on.
Removing the drive belt Nissan X-Trail
1. Using a 10 mm wrench, disconnect the wire from the "negative" terminal of the battery.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and place it on secure supports.
3. Using a balloon wrench, unscrew the fastening nuts, and remove the right wheel.
4. Pry with a flathead screwdriver, pull out the tabs and remove the 6 holders of the engine side mudguard.
5. Remove the side mudguard of the engine compartment and put it aside.
6. To loosen the tension on the drive belt, fit a 14mm ring wrench onto the tensioner's hex stub.
7. Turning the key clockwise, remove the tension roller from the belt.
8. Insert a metal rod into a special hole in the tensioner, thereby fixing the roller in this position.
9. Remove the drive belt from the crankshaft pulley and pull it out of the engine compartment.
Note:
If the belt is in good condition and the work is not related to its replacement, first put a mark indicating the direction of rotation of the belt. When assembling, it will help to install it in the same position.
Removing the Nissan X-Trail alternator
1. Remove the rubber cap from the generator.
2. Using a 12 mm wrench, unscrew the fastening nut and remove the wire tip from the generator output.
3. Disconnect the block of wires from the generator.
4. Using a 14 mm wrench, remove the 2 generator mounting bolts.
5. Remove the generator from the engine bracket and pull it out of the engine compartment.
Removing and replacing the Nissan X-Trail pump
1. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the 4 pump mounting bolts.
Note:
On a Nissan with a QR25DE engine, remove the 3 mounting bolts.
2. Remove the pump.
3. If necessary, replace the Nissan X-Trail pump with a working one.

4. Replace pump seal.

5. Thoroughly clean the mating surface on the cylinder block from gasket residue. Wipe the surface with a clean cloth.
6. Install a new pump with a new Nissan X-Trail gasket in place. Bolts of fastening tighten the moment of 25 Н•м.
7. Install the generator in place in the reverse order of removal.
8. Install the drive belt in the reverse order of removal. Check that the belt lies correctly on all pulleys. Lastly, pull it over the pump pulley.
Note:
Observe the auxiliary drive diagram.
9. Check the mutual tension of the tensioner marks. With a new belt, the arrow will point to the top of the range. Over time, as the belt wears and stretches, mark 1 will gradually shift.
10. Fill the engine cooling system by slowly pouring coolant into the radiator to the level of the vapor tube.
Note:
To prevent air locks from forming, pour antifreeze into the radiator very slowly (filling speed should not exceed 2 liters per minute).
11. Close the radiator cap tightly.
Note:
When the engine is running, the cooling system is under pressure, so coolant may leak from under a loosely wrapped plug or the plug may be torn off.
12. Add antifreeze to the expansion tank up to the “MAX” mark.
Note:
Do not fill the fluid reservoir above the MAX mark, as the volume will increase when the engine is running.
13. Tightly wrap the tank lid. If antifreeze is spilled on wires, painted or plastic body parts, wipe them off immediately with a clean rag.
