Note:
In accordance with the Volkswagen Polo car maintenance regulations, the fuel filter must be replaced every 30 thousand kilometers.
The Volkswagen Polo fuel filter has a built-in fuel pressure regulator, so you only need to install a filter of the same design.
The fuel in the power system is under pressure. Therefore, before servicing the fuel system, it is necessary to relieve fuel pressure.
Replacing the fuel filter on a Volkswagen Polo
1. Remove the cover of the mounting block in the cabin.
2. With the ignition off, remove the BS32 fuel pump fuse.
3. Start the engine and let it idle until it stops due to running out of fuel.
4. Then turn on the starter for 2–3 s. After that, the pressure in the power supply system will be relieved.
Note:
The fuel filter is installed on the right side of the fuel tank.
5. Pressing a screwdriver on the latch of the fuel drain pipe from the fuel filter, disconnect the pipe from the fuel filter fitting.
6. Similarly, disconnect the inlet and outlet pipes from the fuel filter fittings.
7. Remove the parking brake cable from the holder.
8. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the fuel filter clamp.
9. Remove the fuel filter from the clamp, while removing the filter pin from the holder on the clamp.
10. Since fuel remains in the filter, we drain it into a container prepared in advance.
11. Install the filter in reverse order.
Note:
The arrow on the filter housing must point in the direction of fuel flow (toward the front of the vehicle).

12. We put the tips of the fuel pipes on the filter fittings until the latches snap into place.
13. Insert the pin into the holder on the clamp. After installing the fuel pump fuse, turn on the ignition and check the tightness of the connections.
