Replacing the parking brake cables Nissan Qashqai 2007 - 2013

Tools:

• Collar for end nozzle
• Nozzle for crank 12 mm
• Screwdriver flat medium
• pliers
• Open-end wrench 10 mm

Parts and consumables:

• Front parking brake cable
• Rear parking brake cables

Notes:

Replace the parking brake cables if they are excessively stretched (impossible to adjust the parking brake), mechanically damaged or loose in the sheath.

Replacing the parking brake cables  Nissan Qashqai

1. Remove the lining of the floor tunnel.

2. Turn away an adjusting nut of a tip of a forward cable of a parking brake.

3. Remove the nut.

4. Pull the front cable end out of the parking brake lever guide.

5. Disconnect the rear cable ends from the equalizer.

6. Remove the front parking brake cable.

7. Install the front parking brake cable and all parts in the reverse order of removal.

To replace the rear parking brake cables, do the following:

Note:

Removing the rear parking brake cables is shown using the left cable as an example. The right parking brake cable is removed in the same way.

1. Remove the caliper assembly from the shoe guide as described here .

2.  Remove the rear wheel brake disc.

3. Remove parking brake pads.

4. Disconnect the expansion lever from the tip of the rear parking brake cable.

5. Pull the cable end spring away from the brake shield bracket.

6. Lower the cable down.

7. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a tip of a back cable of a drive of a parking brake.

8. Pull the cable through the hole in the brake shield.

9. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an arm of a cover of a cable from a hole of the trailing arm of a back suspension bracket.

10. Disconnect the cable sheath bracket from the rear suspension arm.

11. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an arm of a cover of a cable from an aperture of an arm of a trailing arm and disconnect an arm of a cover of a cable from the rear suspension arm.

12. To replace the left rear parking brake cable, fold back the thermal shield.

13. Turn out a bolt of fastening of an arm of a cover of a cable from an aperture of an arm of a body.

14. Disconnect the cable sheath bracket from the body.

15. Remove the lining of the floor tunnel.

16. Disconnect the rear cable ends from the equalizer.

17. Squeeze the parking brake cable sheath latch and pull the cable with seals out of the passenger compartment.

18. Remove the second rear parking brake cable in the same way.

19. Install new parking brake cables and all removed parts on the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.
