Notes:
Supplemental Restraint System (Supplemental Restraint System) side airbags and curtain airbags are designed to provide additional protection for the driver, front passenger and outboard rear passengers in addition to the primary protection provided by the seat belts.
In response to a severe side impact, the side airbags and SRS curtain airbags deploy by inflating along with the seat belts to reduce injury. SRS side airbags help primarily to reduce injury to the chest of the driver or front passenger, and SRS curtain airbags mainly help to reduce injury to the head of the driver, front passenger or rear outboard passengers. The side airbag and SRS curtain airbag on the passenger side will deploy even if there is no passenger in the front seat or rear seat.
The curtain airbags can be deployed even if the side airbags fail to deploy.
The side airbag and SRS curtain airbag system may not deploy if the vehicle is subjected to a side collision at a certain angle or a collision at a point on the vehicle body where the impact does not affect the passenger compartment, as shown in the illustration.
The side airbags and SRS curtain airbags are designed to inflate in the event of a severe side impact affecting the cabin area.
For the safety of all passengers, they must always wear their seat belts properly.
Side airbag and SRS curtain airbag components
The side airbag and SRS curtain airbag system consists of the following main components, the location of which is shown in the figure:
1 - Control lamp of the SRS system;
2 - Curtain airbag modules (airbag and inflator);
3 - Modules of side airbags (airbag and inflator);
4 - Sensors for curtain airbags;
5 - Sensors for side and curtain airbags;
6 - Airbag sensors assembly.
Attention:
The SRS side airbag and curtain airbag system is intended only as additional protection for the driver, front passenger, and outboard rear passengers, in addition to the primary protection provided by the seat belts. For maximum protection during an accident, the driver and all passengers in the vehicle must wear seat belts. Proper use of seat belts reduces the chance of death or serious injury, and the chance of a person being ejected from the vehicle.
