It all started gradually - at first, the speed began to float periodically at idle, then it began to appear more often, and since I don’t like it when something doesn’t work, the first thing I did was connect the diagnostics and the suspicions were confirmed - the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve - an exhaust gas recirculation system designed to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

This is what the "EGR valve error" looks like. It was decided to clean the valve. The valve cleaning procedure itself is not complicated, but its location makes us once again “thank” the engineer who invented it.

In this picture, the EGR valve is position #5

This is how the place where the air intake was removed looks like, after which access to the valve appeared

EGR valve cleaning

In total, taking into account the removal of the air intake and the difficult removal of the valve itself, it took about half an hour. I cleaned it with regular carburetor cleaner and a thin flathead screwdriver.
