Parts and consumables:
- Coolant
- rags
- Funnel (if needed)
Notes:
Check with your vehicle dealer for the brand of fluid used in your vehicle. Do not mix liquids of different colors and different manufacturers. If you do not know the brand of the liquid filled in, and the liquid needs to be topped up, replace all the liquid in the cooling system. Only use products from trusted manufacturers. Remember that the use of poor quality coolant leads to costly engine repairs.
It is advisable to check the fluid level in the expansion tank of the cooling system at each inspection of the car before leaving, and always in case of engine overheating and the associated release of fluid from the system.
The expansion tank is installed in the front of the engine compartment, on the left in the direction of travel of the vehicle.
Location of the coolant expansion tank.
Warning:
To avoid severe burns , check the coolant level only when the engine is cold. The coolant is toxic, so be careful when handling it.
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and open the hood of the vehicle.
2. Remove the plug of the expansion tank of the engine cooling system.
3. Check the coolant level. The fluid level on a cold engine should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the wall of the expansion tank.
4. If the fluid level in the tank is at or below the MIN mark , then add coolant.
Warning:
Do not fill the fluid reservoir above the MAX mark, as the fluid volume increases when the engine is running. When starting the engine, the expansion tank cap must be closed.
5. After topping up the liquid, tightly close the cap of the coolant expansion tank.
Notes:
Check the coolant level regularly (if there is no coolant, the engine may be damaged). When topping up is necessary, use only coolant grades that are approved by the manufacturer's technical departments and provide freeze protection and anti-corrosion protection of the engine cooling system.
Coolant that has fallen on engine parts or paintwork must be removed with a rag.
Helpful Hints:
It is convenient to use a funnel to facilitate topping up the liquid. In the absence of a funnel for adding liquid, you can make a funnel from the neck of a plastic bottle.
If the newly poured antifreeze suddenly suddenly turned brown quickly, it means that you were sold a fake, in which they "forgot" to add corrosion inhibitors. Change the fluid as soon as possible before it eats away at the cooling system.
