Notes:

The hydraulic system of the Citroen Berlingo 2 is part of the steering mechanism to make it easier to turn the steering wheel and set the trajectory. If you have difficulty turning the steering wheel or howling when you turn it, first of all, you should check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir.

1. Park the vehicle on level ground and allow the engine to cool. The power steering reservoir is located in the engine compartment on the right, next to the windshield washer reservoir.

2.  The fluid level is checked by the marks on the dipstick mounted in the power steering reservoir cover itself. Therefore, first turn counterclockwise and unscrew the reservoir cap.

3. Remove the cover along with the dipstick from the power steering reservoir.

4.  Wipe any remaining fluid on the dipstick with a rag.

5. Insert the dipstick back until it stops and pull it out again. The level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks.

Note:

Notches are made on the Citroen Berlingo 2 dipstick both for a “cold” engine, the operation of which was stopped some time ago, and for a “hot” one, when it has already been working for some time.

6.  If the level of the working fluid has dropped below the “ MIN” mark, then insert a funnel into the neck of the power steering Citroen Berlingo 2 tank and add the required amount of working fluid.

Notes:

Since you are checking the level with a dipstick, you should add liquid gradually to avoid overfilling the reservoir.

Useful advice:

In the absence of a funnel, a funnel made from a plastic bottle can be used to top up the oil.

7.  Check the color and quality of the Citroen Berlingo 2 liquid: a good liquid should be clear, amber or pinkish in color. Screw the power steering expansion tank cap back on and check its tightness.

Notes:

Be sure to use the correct power steering fluid for your vehicle, as each power steering fluid requires a different viscosity (density) to properly power the steering system.

The manufacturer does not recommend using gear oil instead of steering fluid. There is a wide variety of fluid types to choose from and choosing the wrong kind can result in steering failure and failure of steering seals.

Be careful to avoid "overfilling" your power steering unit with fluid. It is better to keep the liquid level within acceptable limits than to fill the reservoir with too much of it. While the engine is running, the Citroen Berlingo 2 power steering fluid tends to expand. If you fill the tank up to the neck, and then go on a road trip in a car, then the increase in pressure can lead to problems and lead to costly repairs.
