Parts and consumables:

  • Power Steering Fluid
  • rags
  • Funnel (if needed)

Notes:

The power steering fluid level should be  checked at every maintenance, as well as when a fluid leak is detected from the hydraulic drive of the booster, when steering efficiency is reduced or extraneous noise (howl) occurs when the steering wheel is turned.
It is important to locate the leak as accurately as possible, as it is likely that a worn or damaged part will need to be replaced.

The Fiat Doblo power steering expansion tank is  installed on the right side of the engine compartment.

2.  The tank body is marked " MAX " and " MIN ". When the engine is warmed up to normal temperature, the level of the working fluid should be near the “ MAX ” mark. When the engine is cold, the fluid level must not be below the “ MIN ” mark.

3. If the liquid level has dropped below the “ MIN ” mark, then it is necessary to add liquid; for this, the cover of the power steering reservoir is turned counterclockwise and removed from the reservoir.

Notes:

Make sure you are using the manufacturer's recommended power steering fluid.

It is not recommended to use gear oil instead of steering fluid. With a large selection of different types of fluid, choosing the wrong kind can lead to steering failure and failure of its seals.

4. Add liquid to the tank to the " MAX " level . Wipe off spills with a clean cloth and close the lid tightly.

Notes:

Avoid overfilling the expansion tank with liquid . The liquid level must be kept within acceptable limits and not pour too much into the tank. During engine operation, power steering fluid tends to expand. An increase in pressure can lead to problems and costly repairs.
