Diagram of the instrument cluster of the car Skoda Fabia I

Scheme of the instrument cluster restyled car Skoda Fabia I

1  - tachometer;

2  - coolant temperature gauge;

3  - fuel gauge;

4  - speedometer;

5  - electronic clock and multifunctional pointer;

6  - counter of the distance traveled (total and daily), as well as an indicator of the frequency of service maintenance;

7 - block of control lamps / information display;

8 - button for resetting the daily mileage counter.

Tachometer (1)

Tachometer 1 shows the engine speed. The tachometer readings must be multiplied by 100. The beginning of the red sector of the tachometer scale 1 indicates for all gears the maximum permissible speed for a run-in and warmed up car. During break-in, avoid excessive vehicle speed.

Coolant temperature gauge (2)

At a low fluid temperature (the engine is not warmed up), the arrow is in the left zone of the scale of the pointer 2 of the coolant temperature. Avoid driving at high engine speeds, with full throttle and do not put the engine under heavy load.

At operating temperature, the pointer is in the middle zone of the scale. At elevated temperatures, the arrow may move to the right zone. As soon as the control lamp 12 starts flashing (see. Fig.  Block of control lamps and signaling devices of the instrument panel ) of insufficient level and elevated coolant temperature, you should stop, let the engine cool down and eliminate the cause of overheating.

Fuel gauge (3)

The fuel gauge only works when the ignition is on.

The volume of the fuel tank is approximately 45 liters. At the moment when the arrow of the pointer falls to the area of the fuel reserve, the warning symbol will light up. At the moment, there are still about 7 liters of fuel in the fuel tank. The information display shows: "PLEASE REFUEL". An audible alarm (1 short beep) also sounds as a warning signal.

Warning:

Never empty the fuel tank completely! Irregular supply of fuel to the fuel supply system can lead to misfiring or ignitions in the engine. Unburnt fuel can enter the exhaust gas (EG) system and cause damage to the catalytic converter.

Speedometer (4)

Speedometer 4 shows the speed of the vehicle in kilometers per hour.

Electronic clock (5)

To set the time, use the control button (button 8 to reset the trip meter), located next to the speedometer, at the bottom left of it.
Clock setting - turn the control button to the left.
Minute setting - turn the control button to the right.

Multifunction pointer (5)

The multi-function pointer can display the following data:

  • average fuel consumption
  • path traveled
  • average travel speed
  • vehicle driving time
  • outside air temperature
  • power reserve
  • instantaneous fuel consumption

The principle of operation and control of a multifunctional meter can be illustrated by the example of average fuel consumption meters.

The multifunction pointer is equipped with two automatically working counters. Which of the counters is currently active on the display can be distinguished by the reversed figures.

Multifunctional pointer on the instrument panel, average fuel consumption meters, Skoda Fabia I

The average fuel consumption meter data for an individual trip (counter no. 1) is displayed when no. 1 appears on the display. If no. 2 appears on the display, the average fuel consumption meter data for the total trip (counter no. 2) is displayed. Switching of counters is carried out by the button "B".

The layout of the button for switching the information display in the car Skoda Fabia I

The data of the average fuel consumption counter for a single trip (counter No. 1) is accumulated over the trip from the time of ignition, until it is turned off.

If you continue the trip within 2 years from the moment the ignition is turned off, then the estimated new readings are counted together with the previous ones. If the trip is interrupted for more than 2 hours, the contents of the memory are automatically reset.

The data of the average consumption counter for the total trip (counter No. 2) accumulates data on the movement of an arbitrary number of individual trips up to a total time of 100 hours or a distance traveled of 10,000 km. After exceeding any of the indicated values, the counter is reset and the countdown is carried out from the very beginning. Unlike the trip memory, this trip memory is not reset if a trip is stopped for more than 2 hours.

Function switch "A" and reset button "B" are located on the wiper handle (image above).

Counter selection - by repeated short pressing of the "B" button, you can select the required counter.

Function selection - push rocker "A" up or down. This will call up the individual functions of the multifunction display on the display.

Reset

  • Select the required counter.
  • Press button "B" longer than 1 second

Button "B" resets the following values of the selected memory:

  • average fuel consumption
  • path traveled
  • average travel speed
  • travel time

The multifunction pointer can only be switched when the ignition is on. After the ignition is switched on, the function that was last selected before the ignition was switched off will be displayed. However, if the outdoor temperature is between -5°C and +5°C, the outdoor temperature will be displayed along with the snowflake symbol. The snowflake symbol warns the driver of the possibility of ice formation. After pressing the rocker button "A", the function that was last selected before switching off will be displayed.

Distance meter (6)

The distance traveled is indicated in kilometers (km). For some versions, it is used as a unit of measure “mile”.

The lower (daily) trip counter indicates the distance traveled by the car since the last reset - in steps of 100 m or 1/10 mile, respectively. The lower counter can be reset by pressing the reset button 8 of the daily counter.

The top odometer indicates the total distance traveled in kilometers or miles so far by the vehicle.

If there is any malfunction in the instrument panel, the permanently displayed indication "dEF" will appear on the display of the daily trip meter. Have the fault repaired as soon as possible at a Skoda Dealership.

In case of exceeding the speed of 120 km/h, you will be warned about this fact by an audible alarm. If the speed drops below this limit, the overspeed audible alarm will turn off. This feature only applies to vehicle configurations for certain countries.

Service interval indicator (6)

Service interval indicator for vehicles with precisely defined service intervals “QG0“.

When the next service inspection is due, the trip meter 6 will display the key symbol and one of the following indications:

  • OIL (engine oil change)
  • INSP (service inspection).

Information display 7 shows: SERVICE DUE IN ... KM OR ... DAYS.

Data on kilometers and, accordingly, on the time left until the next service inspection are reduced gradually in steps of 100 km and 1 day, respectively. As soon as the due date for the service inspection has been reached, the key symbol flashes on the display.

Information display 7 shows: SERVICE NOW.

The inscription disappears approximately 20 seconds after the ignition is switched on. Data regarding the service status on the trip counter can also be called up by pressing button 8 to reset the trip counter for longer than 1 sec.

Information display (7)

The Information Display (ID) gives you simple information about the current operating status of the vehicle.

In addition, depending on the vehicle configuration, the ID provides data from the car radio, multifunction pointer, navigation system and automatic transmission.

Malfunctions in operation and, accordingly, the need for repair work, as well as other indications, are signaled by red and yellow luminous symbols. Illumination of the symbol is accompanied by an audible signal.

Activation of the ID menu is carried out by rocker button "A" located on the wiper control lever (shown in the figure above). With button "A" you can select individual menu items. After briefly pressing button "B" or releasing button "A" (after about 4 seconds), the selected data will be displayed.

You can choose between the following menu options:

  • TRIP COMPUTER (CAR COMPUTER)
  • CAR STATUS
  • DISPLAY OFF
