Nissan x-trail trunk won't open

Note:

In the event of a battery or central lock failure, a mechanical opening of the Nissan X-Trail tailgate is provided.

To access the lock from inside the luggage compartment, you will need to fold down the rear seatbacks.

How to open the trunk of a Nissan X-Trail from the passenger compartment

1. Open the back door. Pull out and lower the bottom of the seat.

2. Remove the headrest by pulling it up.

3. Detach the luggage cover from the backrest.

4.  Raise the latch.

5. Lower the backrest.

6. Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the door trim trim from inside the trunk.

7. Using a flat screwdriver, slide the plastic retainer of the Nissan X-Trail trunk lock to the right.

8. Open the trunk.

Helpful advice:

To prevent jamming of the trunk lock on the Nissan X-Trail and extend its life, the lock mechanism must be periodically lubricated.
