Notes:
The manufacturer installs a maintenance-free battery with a nominal voltage of 12 V and a capacity of 45 Ah on Hyundai Elantra J5 MD cars.
Instead of a regular maintenance-free battery, you can install any battery that is similar in voltage, capacity, mounting dimensions and connection polarity. In this case, use and maintain the battery in accordance with the instructions supplied with it.
1. Check the condition of the negative battery terminal.
Note:
Be sure to check if the process of oxidation of the battery terminal has begun.
2. If necessary, clean the negative terminal of the battery from dirt with a rag.
3. Open the cover of the main fuse and the positive terminal of the battery.
4. Check the technical condition of the main fuse and the positive battery terminal. Also remove dust from these parts with a rag.
5. If less than 20 minutes have passed since the engine was stopped, turn the ignition key to the ON position and turn on the electrical equipment (headlights, fan motor, rear window defroster, etc.) for 60 seconds to eliminate the surface charge of the battery.
6. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and turn off the electrical systems.
7. Measure the battery voltage between the negative (-) and positive (+) terminals with a tester.
Note:
Standard voltage: 12.5~12.9V at 20°C (68°F). If the voltage is lower than specified, charge the battery.
