1. Measure the distance from the pedal pad to the floor with the pedal released. The distance should be 156-166mm for manual transmission vehicles and 164.9-174.9mm for automatic transmission vehicles.

2. If the measured value is not within the specified limits, loosen the brake light switch locknut.

3. Loosen the push rod locknut.

4. Rotate the push rod to adjust the position of the pedal and tighten the push rod locknut.

7. Start the engine and measure the distance from the pedal platform to the floor with the pedal depressed with a force of 490 N (50 kg). The measured distance must be greater than 84.8 mm for manual transmission vehicles and greater than 91.5 mm for automatic transmission vehicles.

8. If the free play and the distance from the brake pedal to the floor differ from the nominal values, it is necessary to find and eliminate the malfunction.
