Note:
According to the scheduled maintenance plan, the condition of the Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox must be checked every 15 thousand km. mileage or 1 year.
The check is carried out together with the check of the rear wheel drives.
Checking the technical condition of the rear gearbox Nissan X-Trail
1. Install the car on a viewing hole or overpass.
2. With a 13 mm head, unscrew the bolts and remove the crankcase protection. The Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox is mounted on the rear subframe.
3. Make sure there are no oil leaks from under the drain and filler plugs.
4. Make sure there are no oil leaks from under the crankcase cover.
5. Make sure there are no oil leaks through the rear wheel drive oil seals.
6. Make sure there are no leaks in the stuffing box on the flange side.
7. Make sure there are no leaks through the joint between the crankcase and the Nissan X-Trail electromagnetic clutch.
8. If leaks are found, check the oil level in the rear gearbox:
8.1. Using a 10 mm hex wrench, unscrew the plug of the control (filler) hole of the Nissan X-Trail rear gearbox. The oil level should be at the lower edge of the inspection hole.
8.2. If the level is below the required level, take a special syringe for filling oil (as an option, you can use a medical one).
8.3. Using a syringe with a tube, fill the gearbox with oil up to the lower edge of the control hole.
8.4. Clean the plug from dirt.
8.5. Replace the oil level plug seal with a new one and screw the plug back on. Wipe up spilled oil with a rag.
9. Check up a condition of a breather on the case of an electromagnetic coupling.
10. Check the condition of the breather, its hose and the reliability of the hose attachment to the fitting on the crankcase of the Nissan X-Trail gearbox.
11. Make sure that the gearbox is securely attached to the rear subframe and that there are no cracks on the support brackets.
