Parts and consumables:
- rags
- Oil funnel
- Automatic transmission oil Hyundai Santa Fe (04500-00400 - capacity 4 l; 04500-00100 - capacity 1 l)
Note:
The fluid level in an automatic transmission must be checked at least every 15,000 km.
Fill the automatic transmission with HYUNDAI GENUINE ATF SP-III, DIAMOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III, or other brands approved by Hyundai Motors.
The pointer (probe) of the working fluid level in an automatic transmission (automatic transmission) is located in the front of the engine compartment on the left, between the battery and the cylinder head.

1. To check the level of the working fluid in an automatic transmission (automatic transmission), start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. The liquid temperature should be 70-80 °C. You can drive the car for a short time to warm up faster.
Note:
Usually, at an ambient temperature of 20 °C, a 10-minute drive in a calm mode is sufficient.
2. Park the vehicle on a level, level surface. Apply the parking brake. With the engine idling, depress the brake pedal and move the selector lever from " P " to " D ". Keep the brake pedal depressed, let the car run for 1-2 minutes. in the " D " position, then move the gear selector lever sequentially to each of the operating modes and linger in each mode for 3-4 seconds. Set the lever to the " P " or " N " position. The engine must be running during the test.

Warning:
The ingress of even a small amount of mechanical impurities into the working fluid of the box is unacceptable. Therefore, before removing the oil level indicator (dipstick), carefully wipe the surface around it from dirt.
3. Remove the pointer (probe), wipe it with a rag and install it in place.
4. Remove the dipstick again. The Santa Fe oil level should be between the notches that correspond to the minimum and maximum levels on the "75 ° C" scale on the dipstick.
Note:
If the level check is forced to be carried out in a cold gearbox, use the "25 ° C" scale on the dipstick. The range between the marks in the form of notches, corresponding to the minimum and maximum on the "25 °C" scale, is advisory in nature and should not be used to accurately determine the level of the automatic transmission fluid. As soon as possible, repeat the check in accordance with the recommendations in paragraph 1 of this article.

5. If the fluid level approaches or falls below the "75°C" lower scale, add fluid. To do this, insert a funnel into the dipstick guide and fill in the oil.
6. After topping up the liquid, be sure to check its level again, as described in paragraphs 3-4 of this article. Do not exceed the maximum allowable level, as this can lead to gearbox failure.
Note:
Draining and changing the oil in the Santa Fe automatic transmission is described in this article .
