Parts and consumables:
- Coolant
- rags
Recommendations:
The manufacturer recommends using genuine L250 ethylene glycol based coolant. Place the vehicle on a level surface before starting work.
Warnings:
- Do not mix liquids of different colors and different manufacturers. If you do not know the brand of the filled liquid, and you need to add it, replace all the liquid in the cooling system.
- Use products from approved manufacturers only. Remember that the use of low-quality coolant leads to expensive engine repairs! Check the coolant level only on a cold engine.
- The coolant is toxic, so be careful when handling it.
- Do not fill the fluid reservoir above the “MAX” mark, as the volume will increase when the engine is running.
- When starting the engine, the expansion tank cap must be closed.
Advice:
- Keep an eye on the coolant level at all times. Its sharp decrease or increase should be a signal for an immediate check of the engine cooling system.
- If freshly poured antifreeze suddenly suddenly changed color from blue to brown, then you were sold a fake, in which they "forgot" to add corrosion inhibitors. Replace the fluid as soon as possible before it has had time to corrode the elements of the cooling system.
1. The coolant level must be between the "MAX" and "MIN" marks on the wall of the expansion tank.
2. To add fluid to the expansion tank, unscrew and remove the expansion tank cap.
3. Add coolant to the required level.
4. Close the plug of the expansion tank, remove spilled liquid with a clean cloth.
Warning:
Screw the cap on the expansion tank tightly. The expansion tank is under pressure when the engine is running, so coolant may leak from under a loosely wrapped plug or the plug may be torn off.
Advice:
There are two valves in the plug of the expansion tank: inlet and outlet. The exhaust valve plays a big role in ensuring optimum engine temperature. It maintains an excess pressure of at least 0.13 MPa (1.3 kgf / cm2) in the system, providing an increase in the temperature at which the coolant begins to boil and preventing intense vaporization.
Unfortunately, when the valve is stuck in the closed position during overheating, a significant overpressure of more than 0.15 MPa (1.5 kgf / cm2) occurs, which can lead to a rupture of the expansion tank or a breakdown of one of the hoses. In turn, the jamming of the valve in the open position leads to premature boiling of the coolant. Therefore, once a year, rinse the plug of the expansion tank with running water. If there are doubts about the serviceability of the valve, replace the plug.
