  • Big syringe
  • torque wrench
  • Metal brush

Parts and consumables:

  • Aluminum washers for filler and drain plugs
  • Wide container for draining oil
  • Motor oil
  • rags

Notes:

Periodically (but at least once every 15,000 km) check the oil level in the rear axle gearbox, and change the oil every 60,000 km or 4 years (whichever comes first). However, sometimes the need to change the oil may arise earlier: for example, when switching to an oil of a different viscosity, when repairing the rear axle gearbox, etc.

It is more convenient to carry out work on checking the level and changing the oil in the rear axle gearbox on a lift or an inspection ditch.

To check the oil level and add it to the rear axle gearbox, do the following:

1. Clean the plugs of the control (filling) and drain holes from dirt.

3. Remove the plug.

4. Check the oil level in the rear axle gearbox. The oil level should be at the edge of the hole or slightly lower.

5. If the oil level is very low (cannot be controlled), fill the oil with a syringe into the hole up to the lower edge of the control hole. Wrap the plug of the control hole and remove the oil leaks.

Useful advice:

It is recommended to drain the oil within 15 minutes after the trip, until it has cooled down and has good fluidity.

1. To change the oil in the rear axle gearbox, unscrew the plug of the control (filler) hole.

The drain plug is sealed with an aluminum washer. Be sure to replace the washer when installing the drain plug.

4. Remove metal chips (if any) from the plug magnet with a rag, screw the plug into the drain hole and tighten to 35 N•m.

5. Fill oil into the rear axle gearbox along the edge of the inspection hole.
