Adjusting the stroke of the parking brake lever (handbrake) Hyundai ix35

Parking brake lever.

1.  Before raising the rear of the car, turn on the 1st gear (transfer the automatic transmission selector to the "P" position), install the wheel chocks ("shoes") under the front wheels.

2.  Raise and place the rear of the vehicle on stands.

3. Gently pry up the back cover of the floor console, and remove the cover against the resistance of the six latches.

Note:

It is better to pry off the cover with a plastic object, such as a mounting spatula, so as not to scratch the plastic.

4. Unscrew the small plate and remove it.

5.  Adjust the travel of the parking brake lever by turning the adjusting nut.

Note:

There are also adjusting screws in the holes in the rear brake discs, but you don’t need to go there, they are used only after replacing the handbrake pads.

6.  Release the parking brake lever and check for ease of rotation of the rear wheels. They should rotate evenly, without jerks. Adjust again if necessary. 

7. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
