Note:
Check and adjust the headlights on the Ford Focus 3 on an equipped car (with a fully filled fuel tank, a set of tools and a spare wheel).
In the described way, using a marked screen, only headlights with halogen incandescent lamps can be adjusted. To adjust the headlights with gas discharge lamps, contact a specialized service that has optical stands.
Ford Focus 3 headlight adjustment
1. Pre-check and, if necessary, bring the air pressure in the tires to normal.
2. Place the car perpendicular to a smooth wall (eg in a garage) at a distance of 3 m. Place a weight of 75 kg on the driver's seat.
3. Mark the screen on the wall as shown in fig. 10.5. The longitudinal plane of symmetry of the car must pass along line 0 on the screen. Rock the car from the side so that the suspension springs self-adjust.
4. Measure the height of the headlight centers from the ground on your vehicle. This will be the distance h (700 mm) on the screen.
5. Set the headlight electrocorrector control on the instrument panel to the position corresponding to the load of the car with one driver.
6. Turn on low beam.
7. It is recommended to adjust the direction of the light spot for each headlight individually. Cover the second headlight with an opaque material during adjustment.
NOTE
This is how the headlight adjustment screws are located horizontally A and vertically B. Shown on the left headlight removed from the vehicle.
8. Open the hood and, turning the adjusting screws, adjust (if the location of the light spots does not match the figure) the position on the screen of the light spot for each headlight horizontally and vertically.
9. Headlights on Ford Focus 3 are considered adjusted when the upper boundaries of the left parts of the light spots coincide with line 4 (see Fig. 10.5), and vertical lines 1 and 2 pass through the points E1 and E2 of the intersection of horizontal and inclined sections of light spots.
