Removal and installation of the Toyota Corolla thermostat

Note:

The need to remove the thermostat on the Toyota Corolla may arise to replace it if the engine temperature is unstable: overheating or insufficient heating.

To check the thermostat on a car, start a cold engine and touch the lower (outlet) radiator hose with your hand - it should be cold. After the coolant temperature reaches 90-95 ° C, the hose should begin to heat up quickly, which indicates the beginning of the circulation of fluid through the large circuit of the cooling system. If it doesn't, remove the thermostat and replace it.

You will need a key "for 10".

Removing and installing a thermostat on a Toyota Corolla

1. Drain the coolant (see "Changing the coolant").

2. Loosen the collar of the radiator outlet hose and, squeezing its bent ears with pliers, slide the clamp along the hose.

3. Remove the hose from the Toyota Corolla thermostat fitting.

4. Turn away three nuts of fastening of a cover of the thermostat.

5. Remove the nozzle.

6. Remove the thermostat installed under it.

7. Remove the O-ring from the Toyota Corolla thermostat. Examine it. Replace a severely compressed, hardened or torn ring.

8. Install the O-ring on the new thermostat.

9. Install the thermostat and all parts in the reverse order of removal.

10. Fill in the coolant and remove air pockets from the cooling system (see "Replacing the coolant").
