Note:
A malfunction of the Nissan X-Trail oxygen sensors is determined when diagnosing a malfunction of the engine management system by reading the trouble codes from the electronic unit.
To avoid burns, sensors should only be checked and replaced after the system has cooled to a safe temperature.
Where is the oxygen sensor (lambda probe) on the Nissan X-Trail
The exhaust system has 2 oxygen concentration sensors. The control sensor is installed at the inlet of the catalytic converter. Based on his data, the ECU adjusts the fuel mixture.
The diagnostic sensor is located at the bottom of the catalytic converter. Based on its signals, the ECU evaluates the degree of purification of exhaust gases and monitors the efficiency of the catalytic converter.
When the sensors fail, the ECU switches to a backup program of work. At the same time, the control lamp for a malfunction of the engine management system lights up on the instrument panel.
On the Nissan X-Trail with a MR20DE gasoline engine, the control sensor is installed on the exhaust manifold in front of the catalytic converter, and the diagnostic sensor is on the exhaust pipe.
Replacing the oxygen sensor (lambda probe) Nissan X-Trail
Press the latch and disconnect the wire block from the terminals of the Nissan X-Trail sensor.
Remove the wire harness from the bracket on the thermal shield.
Apply penetrating lubricant to the sensor mounting location.
Using a special 22 mm wrench, unscrew the sensor.
Remove it from the intake manifold.
Replace the Nissan X-Trail oxygen sensor with a working one.
Before installation, coat the sensor threads with copper grease. Make sure that grease does not get on the sensitive element of the sensor.
Install the sensor in its place in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the sensor to 50 N•m.
