Note:
If the valve or its electrical circuit malfunctions, the engine management system malfunction indicator lamp lights up on the instrument panel.
Replacing the adsorber valve on the MR20DE Nissan X-Trail engine
1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and lift the hood.
The valve is mounted on top of the intake manifold.
2. Using a 10 mm socket, disconnect the wire from the "negative" terminal of the battery.
3. Using a 10 mm socket, unscrew the 2 screws securing the decorative trim.
4. Remove from the front of the holders and remove the engine cover.
5. Press the latch and disconnect the block of wires from the Nissan X-Trail adsorber valve.
6. Squeeze the clamp with pliers and slide it along the hose.
7. Disconnect the hose from the valve.
8. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the 2 screws securing the Nissan X-Trail adsorber valve.
9. Remove the valve by removing its fitting from the inlet pipeline.
10. Replace the Nissan X-Trail adsorber purge valve with a working one.
11. Replace the valve sealing rubber ring.
12. Reinstall the valve in the reverse order of removal.
Replacing the adsorber valve on the QR25DE engine Nissan X-Trail
1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and lift the hood.
2. Using a 10 mm socket, disconnect the wire from the "negative" terminal of the battery.
3. Press the latch and disconnect the block of wires from the Nissan X-Trail adsorber valve.
4. Squeeze with pliers, slide the clamp along the hose and disconnect the hose from the valve.
5. In the same way, disconnect the hose connecting to the intake manifold from the Nissan X-Trail valve.
6. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the valve fastening nut.
7. Remove the Nissan X-Trail canister valve and replace it with a working one.
8. Reinstall the valve in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the fastening nut to 5.1 N•m.
