Note:
The right and left shock absorber struts are removed and installed in the same way.
Replace front shock absorbers and springs in pairs.
In order to replace the spring, you will first need to remove the front shock absorber strut.
Removing the front shock absorber strut Honda Civic
1. Raise the hood cover and fix it with a stop.
2. Pull up and remove the seal from the rear facing of the engine compartment.
3. Remove from the latches and remove the facing of the opening of the shock absorber strut Honda Civic.
4. Pry with a screwdriver and remove the rubber plug.
5. Use a hex wrench to stop the stem from turning and loosen the stem stem nut.
6. Brake the rear wheels with the parking brake and place wheel chocks under them.
7. Use a wheelbrace to loosen the front wheel nuts.
8. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it on secure stands.
9. Remove a decorative cap and a forward wheel.
10. Using a 12 mm wrench, remove the brake hose retainer bolt.
11. Take a brake hose aside.
12. Squeeze with pliers and disconnect the wheel speed sensor wire harness retainer.
13. Take a plait of wires aside.
14. While holding the bolts from turning, use a 19 mm wrench to unscrew the nuts of the upper and lower fastenings of the steering knuckle to the Honda Civic shock absorber strut (do not remove the bolts themselves).
15. With a 14 mm wrench, unscrew the 3 nuts securing the upper shock absorber support to the body.
16. Remove the 2 bolts securing the steering knuckle to the shock absorber strut Honda Civic.
17. Disconnect from a rotary fist and remove a shock-absorber rack.
Note:
If further work is expected, fix the steering knuckle and hub, for example by tying them with wire to the body.
Replacing the front spring of the shock absorber strut Honda Civic
1. Install the special tool on the rack and compress the spring.
2. Secure the stem against turning with a hex wrench.
3. Use a 17mm wrench to loosen the damper rod nut.
4. Rotate the Honda Civic shock absorber spring relative to the protective boot so that the end of the spring is released from the boot holder.
5. Remove the top support of the rack along with the protective cover.
6 . Remove the Honda Civic shock absorber spring.
7. Replace the damaged spring with a new one.
8. Remove the lower elastic gasket from the lower coil of the Honda Civic shock absorber spring.
9. If necessary, replace it with a new one.
10. Assemble the shock absorber in the reverse order of disassembly.
Note:
When installing the Honda Civic shock absorber spring, make sure that the tab on the lower elastic pad fits into the hole in the lower spring seat.
When installing the protective cover, make sure that the upper coil of the spring enters the holder, and the end of the spring rests against the protrusion on the protective cover.
11. Establish a shock-absorber rack and all removed details in an order, the return to removal. First, fix the rack with 3 nuts on top, under the hood.
12. Similarly, replace the spring of the shock absorber strut Honda Civic and on the other side of the car.
13. Check and, if necessary, have the front wheel alignment adjusted by a workshop.
