Tool:

  • Open-end wrench 10 mm

Parts and consumables:

  • Thermostat Skoda Octavia
  • Thermostat gasket Skoda Octavia
  • thermostat sealant

Note:

To check the Skoda Octavia thermostat on a car, start a cold engine and touch the lower (outlet) radiator hose with your hand - it should be cold. After the coolant temperature reaches 90°C, the hose should begin to heat up rapidly, indicating the start of fluid circulation through the large cooling system circuit. If this does not happen, remove the Skoda Octavia thermostat and replace it.

1.  Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery. You need a 10 key.

8.  To check, lower the thermostat into a container with water heated to 80-85 ° C. Gradually heating the water, monitor the temperature at which the thermostat begins to open.

Note:

The thermostat of the Skoda Octavia cooling system is considered to be serviceable under the following conditions:
1.  The temperature at which the valve starts to open is (87±1.5)°С;
2.  Full opening temperature of the valve - 102°C;
3.  Valve stroke (at full opening) - 7 mm.

9.  Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Note:

Before installing the Skoda Octavia thermostat cover after replacing it, apply a layer of sealant to its flange.

10.  Fill in coolant and remove air plugs from the cooling system.
