Note:
This article describes how to replace the fuel filter and replace the coarse filter on the Hyundai ix35.
1. Remove the fuel module as described in this article .
2. Disconnect the two wire blocks from the fuel module cover connector (remember how the blocks were) .
3. Pry off the spring retainer from both tubes with a screwdriver (one retainer is not visible, its location is shown in red circle), remove the retainers and both tubes.

4. Depress the retainers of the two rods of the fuel module cover on the cup body and remove the cover.

5. Use a flat screwdriver to pry off the three latches on the body of the module cup and remove the fuel filter from the cup (the photo shows only one latch, the other two are located along the perimeter of the module cup).

Note:
A rubber valve is located in the hole in the bottom of the fuel module cup to prevent fuel from flowing out of the cup .

6. Pry off the fuel pressure regulator and fuel drain tube retainers with a flathead screwdriver.
7. Remove the fuel pressure regulator and remove the fuel drain tube. Make sure that all pressure regulator o-rings (large and small) are in place.

8. Wring out two clamps of the fuel pump and remove the pump with the mesh filter.

9. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the lock washer and remove the strainer from the pump nozzle.

USEFUL TIPS:
To remove the corrugated tube from the pump nozzle, pour hot water on it.
10. Install all parts on the new fuel filter, make sure you take all the rubber rings out of the old filter and install them on the new filter.

11. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
