Note:
The fuel in the power supply system is under high pressure and it is forbidden to loosen the fuel line connections while the engine is running or immediately after it has stopped . Therefore, before changing the fuel filter on the Nissan X-Trail, you will first need to reduce the pressure in the power system. Also, to access it, remove the air duct and rear seats.
Where is the Nissan X-Trail fuel filter located?
The fuel filter is installed in the fuel module. The fuel module is located in the fuel tank and is secured with a pressure ring. Access to the module can be obtained through a special hatch located under the rear seat cushion. The hatch is closed with a steel cover.
Removing the air duct on the Nissan X-Trail
1. Place the car on a level surface, and turn off the ignition.
2. Raise the hood cover and fix it with an emphasis.
3. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the 3 duct holders.
4. Remove the plug with two holders, and pull out the 3rd retainer.
5. Disengage the lower air duct from the lower receiver air duct, and disengage the rear duct from the air filter housing.
6. Pull the air duct up and out of the engine compartment.
Reducing the pressure in the fuel system Nissan X-Trail
1. Using a 10 mm socket, disconnect the wire from the "negative" terminal of the battery.
2. Wring out the clamps of the mounting block located in the engine compartment.
3. Lift and remove the rear mounting block from the housing and rotate it (the block may look different).
4. Remove the fuel pump fuse EF57 or F17 15A (FUEL PUMP, blue).
5. Reconnect the wire to the "minus" terminal of the battery.
6. Start the engine and let it run for 10-15 seconds until the fuel rail runs out of fuel.
7. Turn off the ignition. The pressure in the fuel system has been released. Now you can disconnect the fuel lines.
Removing the fuel module Nissan X-Trail
1. Go to the car interior.
2. Tilt and remove the rear seat cushion. Pull back the carpet.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the 4 screws securing the fuel module cover.
4. Remove the cover.
5. Press the latch and disconnect the block of wires from the module connector.
6. Squeeze the retainer of the high pressure fuel hose and disconnect it from the fitting of the Nissan X-Trail fuel module.
7. To facilitate installation of the module during subsequent installation, remember or mark with a marker the location of the fuel pump module relative to the fuel tank.
8. Unscrew the pressure ring of the fuel module counterclockwise with a puller.
Note:
You can use a hammer, a wooden block or a screwdriver: rest the block against the edge of the ring and, gently hitting the wood with a hammer, unscrew the ring.
9. Remove the pressure ring.
10. Pull the module out of the fuel tank. Make sure that the level sensor rod is not bent.
11. Use a screwdriver to press the tab on the transparent wire block and disconnect it from the module.
12. Squeeze the fuel transfer hose retainer and disconnect it from the fuel module.
13. Remove the module and drain the fuel from it into a previously prepared container.
14. Remove the O-ring from the module.
Replacing the fuel filter Nissan X-Trail
