Toyota Corolla clutch release check and adjustment

1. To measure the full travel of the clutch pedal, measure the distance from the pedal pad to the floor without depressing the pedal.

2. Press the pedal fully down and repeat the measurement. The difference between the two measurements is the total travel of the clutch pedal, but the nominal value of which is 143-145 mm. If the pedal travel is different from the nominal value, it must be adjusted.

3. Loosen the tightening of the adjusting bolt locknut on the pedal unit, turn the bolt to achieve the required value of the full pedal travel and tighten the locknut.

4. To determine the free travel of the clutch pedal, measure the distance from the starting position of the pedal to the position where an increase in resistance is felt when the pedal is pressed by hand. The rated free travel of the clutch pedal is 5–15 mm. If the free play differs from the nominal value, adjust the length of the clutch master cylinder pusher.

5. Loosen the lock nut.

6. Rotating the pusher by the flat, adjust the pedal free play and tighten the lock nut.
