The following controls and instrumentation are located on the Skoda Octavia instrument panel:

1. Nozzles of the ventilation and interior heating system. Designed to direct the air flow from the heater, air conditioner or ventilation system of the Skoda Octavia.

The switch lever can take the following positions:

I -  Right turn indicators on (fixed position);

II -  Left turn indicators are on (fixed position);

III  -  Parking lights on

IV -  Low / high beam is on. To turn on the low beam or high beam, turn the outdoor light switch to the low beam or high beam mode. Move the switch to position IV.

To turn off the high beam, pull the lever back to its original position.

5. The ignition switch (lock), combined with an anti-theft device, is located on the right side of the steering column.

The car key in the lock can occupy one of three positions:

0 - control is blocked (the steering wheel shaft is blocked) after the key is removed from the ignition lock as a result of turning the steering wheel to the left or right until the steering angle limiter snaps into the locked position;

Warning:

Do not turn off the ignition or remove the key from the lock while driving: the steering will be locked and the car will become uncontrollable.

1 - the ignition is on, the key cannot be removed, the steering is unlocked. Ignition, instruments and all electrical circuits are on.

2 - the ignition is on and the starter key cannot be removed, the steering is unlocked. At the same time, high or low beam headlights and other electrical devices with high current consumption are switched off for a short time. This key position is not fixed; when released, the key returns to position 1 under the action of the spring force.
Before any restart of the engine, return the key to position 1. This eliminates the possibility of starting the starter when the engine is already running.

6.  Switch lever for the wiper and washer of the windshield (rear) glass with buttons for switching the display modes of the on-board computer. The switch turns on the electrical circuits when the ignition is on.

The lever can take the following positions:

- wiper off (fixed position);

II  - the intermittent operation of the wiper is on (fixed position);

III  - the mode for controlling the speed of moving the wiper in manual mode is enabled using lever A;

IV - the first wiper speed is on (fixed position);

V - the second wiper speed is on (fixed position);

VI - by moving the lever towards itself, the windshield washer is turned on (non-fixed position), the wiper is turned on at the same time (depending on the configuration, the headlight washers are turned on at the same time). When the lever is held in this position, washer fluid is supplied, when released, the wiper blades perform a few more cycles. Buttons B and C switch the display modes of the on-board computer.

Note:

Depending on the equipment, a rear window wiper may be installed on the vehicle. In this case, the wiper and washer switch lever can be set to two more positions (VII and VIII), at which the rear window wiper and washer are turned on.

VII - the tailgate window glass wiper is on. In this mode, the windshield wiper is switched on with an interval of 6 s.

VIII  - by moving the lever to this position, the wiper and washer of the glass of the tailgate window are turned on (non-fixed position). Holding the lever in this position will operate the wiper and washer, releasing the lever will turn the washer off and the wiper will perform a few more cycles.

7 . Alarm switch. When the switch is pressed, all direction indicators and their control lamps installed in the instrument cluster light up with a flashing light. Pressing the key again turns off the alarm.

Note:

The alarm system works at any position of a key in the switch (lock) of ignition.

8. Glove box. Used to store small items.

9. Power window control button for the right front door.

The handle of the central light switch can be translated into five fixed positions:

0 - all consumers are off;

1 - side lights, instrument cluster illumination and license plate lights are on;

2 - dipped or main beam headlights are additionally switched on;

3 - by moving the handle in the axial direction towards itself, the same consumers are turned on as in position 2, as well as fog lights;

4 - by moving the handle in the axial direction towards itself from position 3, the rear fog lights are additionally switched on.

To turn on the fog lights, pull the handle out of position 1 or 2 towards you until the first click - the control lamp in the switch will light up.

To turn on the rear fog lights, pull the handle out of position 1 or 2 towards you as far as it will go - the control lamp in the instrument cluster will light up.

By turning the instrument cluster backlight control knob up or down, respectively, increase or decrease the brightness of the Skoda Octavia instrument backlight.

By turning the knob of the headlight corrector adjuster, the angle of inclination of the headlight beam is changed (depending on the vehicle load) in such a way as to prevent dazzling of oncoming drivers.

Alignment of the mark on the regulator knob and the number on the scale ensures the appropriate adjustment of the position of the headlights for the following vehicle loading options:

"-" - the front seats are occupied, the trunk is empty;

- all seats are occupied, the trunk is empty;

2  - all seats are occupied, the trunk is fully loaded. Operation with a trailer with a small load on the coupling device;

3 - only the driver's seat is occupied, the trunk is fully loaded.

22. Power windows control unit. The unit has front and rear power window control buttons with the power window blocking function. The keys have two fixed positions up and down. All power windows are controlled from a panel in the driver's door. The rest of the doors have separate individual keys. To lower or raise the glass of the corresponding window, press the button 1, 3, 4 or 5. The second fixed position is necessary in order to automatically lower or raise the glass completely. To raise the glass, pull the button to the second detent position. To lower the window, press the power window button to the second detent position.
To block the ability to control the windows of the rear doors, press the button 2 until it locks. To unlock, press key 2 again.
