Parts and consumables:

  • Motor oil
  • Funnel
  • rags

Note:

The consumption of engine oil during the operation of the car is a completely normal phenomenon, so you should regularly check the oil level in the engine. Be sure to check the oil level before a long trip.
Engine oil consumption depends on driving style, climate and road conditions. Normal oil consumption can be up to 1 liter per 1000 kilometers. An unbroken engine may consume slightly more.

Engine oil plays a vital role in engine performance and longevity. Use only high quality oil.

The manufacturer recommends the use of oils that meet the requirements of VW 501 01, VW 502 00, VW 503 00 or 504 00 class ACEA A2 or AZ, viscosity class SAE 5W-40.5W-30.

1. Before checking the oil level after a trip, stop the engine and wait 5-10 minutes until the oil drains into the oil sump. Add oil of the same brand, viscosity and quality class as previously used.

Note:

The oil level in the engine crankcase must not exceed the maximum mark, otherwise there may be leakage through gaskets and seals, increased oil consumption. In addition, if the oil level is too high, it is intensively agitated by the counterweights of the crankshaft with the formation of foam. Foam that has entered the internal cavities of the oil pump disrupts its operation.

Check the level with the vehicle on a level surface.
The oil filler neck is located on the timing chain cover.

The oil level indicator (oil dipstick) is located in the front of the engine compartment on the camshaft housing.

2. Remove the oil level indicator (oil dipstick), wipe it with a clean cloth and put it back in place.

3. Remove the pointer (probe) again.

4. The level of the oil film should be within the notch on the dipstick between its upper and lower edges, closer to the top edge. If the oil level approaches or falls below the bottom edge of the notch, add oil.

5. To add oil, turn the oil filler plug counterclockwise to remove it from the oil filler neck.

6. Fill the engine with oil using a funnel, checking the oil level on the indicator. Before removing the pointer, wait 2-3 minutes to allow the oil to drain into the crankcase.

7. After the oil level reaches the required level, install the filler plug by turning it clockwise until it stops.
