Checking the level and changing the oil in a manual transmission Mitsubishi Outlander 2007 - 2010, XL

Periodically (but at least once every 15,000 km) check the oil level in the manual transmission, and change the oil every 75,000 km or 5 years, whichever comes first. However, sometimes the need to change the oil may arise earlier, for example, when switching to a different viscosity oil, when repairing the gearbox, etc.

It is recommended to drain the oil within 15 minutes after the trip, until it has cooled down and has good fluidity.

You will need: a “23” key, a syringe, a wide container for draining the oil.

1. To check the oil level, unscrew the plug A (Fig. 6.17) of the control (filler) hole located on the gearbox housing in front in the direction of travel.

2. Check the oil level in the gearbox.

3. The oil level should be at or below the edge of the hole.

4. If the oil level is very low (cannot be controlled), fill the oil with a syringe into the hole up to the lower edge of the control hole. Wrap the plug of the control hole and remove the oil leaks.

5. To change the oil in the gearbox, unscrew plug A of the control (filler) hole, then plug B of the drain hole and drain the oil into a previously prepared container.

6. The drain plug is sealed with an aluminum washer. If the washer is severely crimped, be sure to replace it.

7. Screw in the drain plug.

8. Fill the gearbox with oil up to the lip of the filler hole.
