Removing the coil spring:
– Compress the coil spring using a coil spring tensioner, e.g. -VAG 1752/1- so that the axial ball bearing comes free at the top.
1 - Device for tensioning springs, e.g. -VAG 1752/1 -.
2 - Wrench with calibrated tightening torque, e.g. -VAG 1332-.
3 - Socket wrench -T10001/8-.
4 - Ratchet wrench -T10001/11-.
5 - Socket wrench -T10001/5-.
6 - Spring holder, e.g. -VAG 1752/4.
– Ensure that the coil spring is correctly seated in the spring holder, e.g. -VAG 1752/4- -arrow-.
– Unscrew the nut from the piston rod.
– Remove the individual suspension strut parts and coil spring with spring tensioner, e.g. -VAG 1752/1-.
Fitting the coil spring:
– Mount the coil spring together with the spring tensioner, e.g. -VAG 1752/1-, on the lower spring seat.
The coil end of the coil spring must rest as far as it will go -arrow-.
– Tighten a new nut on the piston rod.
– By releasing the spring tensioner, e.g. -VAG 1752/1 -, remove it from the coil spring.
– Install the suspension strut.
