Removal and installation of the center console on the Audi A4

Withdrawal

PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the parking brake lever cover.
4. AT:  Move the selector back.
5. Remove the shift lever cover and remove the lever.
6. Remove the front and rear ashtray.
7. Remove the center armrest.
8. Remove the radio.
9. Remove the heater/air conditioner control panel.
10. Disconnect from the central console an overlay of switching (2).
11. Remove the right and left covers (3) from the center console and unscrew the fastening screws in the area where the legs are located.
12. Using a plastic wedge, remove the cover (5) from the center console under the parking brake lever.
13. Depending on the model, disconnect the cigarette lighter socket or the navigation control unit.
14. Turn out 2 fastening screws (7) at the connecting element (6) and take out the connecting element.
15. Remove 2 screws (8) under the ashtray.
16. Remove 4 screws (9) and 2 screws (10) securing the center console (1).
17. Vehicle with center armrest:  Remove nut (11).
18. Remove 2 nuts (12).
19. Pull the center console (1) back and off the floor.

Installation

PROCEDURE

1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. In this case, nuts (11) and (12) are tightened with a torque of  26Nm .
2. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
