Notes:
Replacing the valve cover gasket of the Peugeot 4007 engine should become a familiar procedure, especially if the car is actively used. Replacement is recommended in the following cases:
- when traces of oil appear on the outside along the connection line of the cover and the head of the block;
- during current or major repairs of the engine;
- if the head cover is removed for maintenance or timing repair.
This article shows you how to replace the valve cover gasket.
1. Remove the decorative engine cover as described here .
2. Remove the ignition coils as described here .
3. Disconnect hose 1 from the crankcase ventilation valve and vent hose 2 to the resonator from the cylinder head cover.
4. Loosen the cylinder head cover bolts in the sequence shown in the photo below.
5. Turn away bolts of fastening of a valvate cover completely and remove it.
6. Peugeot 4007 valve cover gasket can now be removed.
7. Remove the remnants of the old sealant from the mating surface of the timing chain cover and cylinder head in contact with the cylinder head cover gasket.
8. Degrease the sealant surface and use a cleaner to remove debris from the inside of the valve cover.
9. Apply the specified sealant with a diameter of 4 mm to the junction of the timing chain cover and cylinder head, as shown in the figure below.
10. Install the gasket with the cylinder head cover in place within 3 minutes of applying the sealant.
11. Pre-tighten the mounting bolts in the sequence shown in the figure below. The tightening torque is 3.0 ± 1.0 Nm.
12. Finally tighten the bolts to a nominal torque of 5.0 ± 0.5 Nm in the sequence shown in the figure above.
Note:
After installing the cylinder head cover, wait at least two hours before adding oil and/or starting the engine.
13. Install the ignition coils in the spark plug wells and connect the crankcase ventilation hoses to the valve cover.
14. Reinstall the valve cover plate and engine trim.
