Note:
The Nissan Note rear wheel hub bearing trunnion is replaced if the threads on the hub nut shank are damaged.
To gain access to the hub bearing trunnion, you will first need to remove the brake drum.
Removing the rear brake drum Nissan Note
1. Loosen the rear wheel bolts.
2. Place wheel chocks under the front wheels.
3. In the passenger compartment, remove the plastic trim under the "handbrake" lever. There is a bolt under the rubber gasket. He regulates the tension.
4. Use a 10 mm socket to loosen the parking brake cable.
5. Raise the rear of the vehicle using a jack and secure it on jack stands.
6. Remove the rear wheel.
7. In the engine compartment, check the brake fluid level in the reservoir of the master brake cylinder. If the level is at the “MAX” mark or approaches it, pump out some of the liquid from the tank (it may splash out when replacing the pads).
8. Pry with a screwdriver and press out the protective cap from the hub.
9. Remove the protective cap.
10. Using a 30 mm socket, unscrew the rear hub nut.
11. Remove the rear hub nut.
12. Grasp the drum with both hands, and, loosening, pull it towards you.
13. Remove the Nissan Note brake drum along with the bearing from the hub trunnion.
Note:
The brake drum is made as one piece with the rear hub.
14. Measure the diameter of the working surface of the drum with a caliper.
15. If the diameter exceeds the maximum allowable (204.45 mm), replace the Nissan Note brake drum with a new one.
16. Check up ease of rotation and lack of backlashes of the bearing of a nave. Replace bearing if necessary.
Note:
Do not press the bearing out of the brake drum unless absolutely necessary. The removed bearing cannot be reused.
Replacing the trunnion of the rear wheel hub bearing Nissan Note
1. Turn out four bolts of fastening of a pin to an arm of a beam of a back suspension bracket.
2. Remove the pin.
3. Replace Nissan Note rear wheel bearing trunnion with a new one.
4. Install a new trunnion and rear wheel hub nut.
5. When installing the removed drum, file the shoulder on the working surface of the drum, formed as a result of wear, with a file.
6. Install the Nissan Note rear brake drum in the reverse order of removal. Finally tighten the hub nut to 180 N•m (18.0 kgf•m).
Note:
Do not reuse a removed hub nut.
7. Press the brake pedal 10-15 times and adjust the gap between the brake shoes and the drum. Each time you press it, you should hear the knob click. As soon as the clicks stop, this means that the gap is set.
8. Press the protective cap into the hub.
9. Reinstall rear wheel and trim cap.
10. Similarly, replace the Nissan Note rear wheel bearing trunnion on the other side of the car.
