Replacing the return spring of the clutch pedal in a Ford Focus 2 car

Sooner or later there comes a moment when the clutch pedal return spring bursts and falls to the floor or shoots in the leg.

To replace the spring, you should buy a new one, preferably the original spring 1463612. You can pick up analogues, but only so that the length is not shorter than the original, and the rigidity is not higher.

So, before replacing the spring, you must remove the plastic covers.

Move the driver's seat all the way back and raise the steering column as high as possible.

Using a T-20 asterisk screwdriver, unscrew the fastening of the plastic panel with a niche.

Unscrew the lower part of the plastic casing of the steering column.

We release the edge of the bottom panel from the rubber seal next to the driver's door and carefully pull the panel towards us. Panel latches are visible in the photo:

We take out the diagnostic connector from the panel and remove the panel.

Remove the lower part of the steering column cover. To do this, snap off the two latches on the left and right.

The upper part of the casing must rise freely.

We take a regular cord and tie it to the long end of the spring.

Now you have to lie on the floor under the steering wheel and find the hole for attaching the spring. It's better to use a flashlight.

We cling the spring with a short hook to the bracket.

We pull the string to slightly stretch the spring and hook the long hook of the spring to the ledge on the top of the pedal.

It takes some effort to put the spring on.

Now we cut off the lace and assemble everything in the reverse order.
