Repair or replacement of the tailgate button for Skoda Fabia 2002 - 2007

Tools:

• Large flat screwdriver
• Small flat screwdriver
• soldering iron
• Open-end wrench 10 mm

Parts and consumables:

• Limit micro switch type (5a125vac 3a250vac)
• Button assembly (VAG 6Y0 827 574) (if complete replacement is required)
• Heat shrink

Note:

This article discusses the option when the button is repaired. Another option is to replace the button (handle) assembly.

1.  Open the tailgate and remove the door trim from the latches. It can be pulled down, helping yourself with a screwdriver, gently prying off the skin.

2.  Possible reasons for the failure of the trunk button may be either a wire break or a failure of the limit microswitch. It is necessary to inspect the electrical circuit of the button. If no breaks are found, then it is possible that the switch is faulty.

3.  Disunite pads of a chain of the button.

4.  Turn off nuts of internal fixture of the button.

5.  Using a screwdriver, pull the button out of the door.

6.  In the case of a complete replacement of the button, install a new button assembly, and assemble everything in reverse order.

7.  In case of button repair, pull out the limit switch by removing the clip.

8.  If there was a break in the chain, then it is necessary to solder the breaks in the chain. Or change the switch and solder it into the button circuit. To improve the quality of the circuit insulation, use heat shrink.

9.  Put the clamp back on the limit switch and assemble all the parts in reverse order.
