Note:
This article describes how to replace spark plugs on a Hyundai ix35.
1. Using the “10” wrench, loosen the nut, and remove the wire terminal from the “negative” battery terminal.
2. Open the hood, pull up the engine cover, and remove it (it is held on by two clips, such as suction cups).
Engine cover fasteners.
3. Slide the gray retainer all the way (as shown by the small arrows), and disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition coils.
Note:
It is not necessary to disconnect the wire blocks from the ignition coils, this is done for convenience (the coil can be removed to the side).
4. Turn out bolts of fastening of coils of ignition, and take coils from candle wells.
WARNING:
Be careful that foreign objects and dirt do not get into the candle well.
5. Insert a spark plug wrench (or a special 16 mm socket with a rubber bushing or a magnet to fix the spark plug) into the spark plug well, unscrew the spark plug, and remove it.
Spark plug.
Note:
Inspect the candles and evaluate their condition by appearance.
6. Check the gap between the electrodes of the spark plugs on the Hyundai ix35 with a round probe.
7. If the gap differs from the nominal value, adjust it by bending the side electrode.
WARNING:
Adjust the gap only by bending the side electrode. Any bending of the center electrode will break the spark plug insulator.
8. Install the spark plugs on the Hyundai ix35 in the reverse order of removal.
