Note:
In order to remove the steering wheel, you will first need to remove the driver's airbag.
Removing the driver's airbag Nissan Note
1. Raise the hood and secure it with the stop.
2. Disconnect the wire from the "negative" terminal of the battery and wait about 15 minutes (for the activator capacitor to completely discharge).
Warning:
Attempting to remove the airbag module on a Nissan Note without powering it off may cause the airbag to deploy unexpectedly.
3. Pry with a screwdriver and remove the plugs of the spring clips of the airbag module on both sides of the steering wheel.
4. Through openings in a casing of a steering wheel wring out spring clamps of an airbag.
5. Disconnect the module from the steering wheel.
6. Disconnect a wire of a sound signal from a socket on a pillow of safety.
7. Use a screwdriver to pry the wiring harness block retainer, lift it up, and disconnect the block from the airbag module terminals.
8. Remove the Nissan Note airbag.
Removing steering wheel Nissan Note
1. While holding the steering wheel from turning, loosen the nut securing it to the steering shaft.
Note:
- Do not completely loosen the fastening nut. If the Nissan Note steering wheel is suddenly disconnected from the steering shaft, you can injure yourself.
- You can secure the steering wheel from turning by using the locking mechanism of the anti-theft device of the ignition switch.
2. With small blows of the hand behind the steering wheel, knock the steering wheel off the splines of the steering shaft. If the steering wheel does not give in, shake it left and right, and then pull it up.
3. Unscrew the fastening nut to the end.
4. Remove the Nissan Note steering wheel.
Nissan Note steering wheel installation
1. To install the steering wheel, align the mark on its hub with the mark on the end of the steering shaft.
2. Install the Nissan Note steering wheel in the reverse order of removal.
3. Tighten the handlebar nut to the correct torque.
4. Reinstall the airbag.
